2017 was my first year at Sedalia Elementary

Background & personal information

I began my teaching career at Johnson Elementary School in 1998 teaching PE.  In October, 2008, I left Johnson Elementary to take an interim assistant principal position at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins.  Ironically, working at the high school helped me realize how important work at the elementary level is for the long term success for kids.  In 2009, I was hired at Roxborough Intermediate School as the assistant principal and jump started my career as an elementary school leader.  Following some stays at other schools in Douglas County, Montrose County, and Summit County, I found my way to Sedalia Elementary.

My wife and I have two daughters and one granddaughter.  Mindy, my wife, is a career educator who worked as a teacher, a literacy coordinator, and with student teachers at the University of Colorado.  Our daughter, Alex, is a 3rd grade teacher at a dual language school in Boulder, CO.  Rachael, our youngest daughter, is an architect in Denver specializing in healing design.

What year did you start at Sedalia Elementary? I started at Sedalia in 2022.

Background & personal information

I began my educational experience working in Douglas County School District in 2021. When I first began I was working as a Family & Cultural Liaison for the Highlands Ranch Area. A former Douglas County High School graduate, my educational journey in Douglas County Schools began when I was a 3rd grader at Flagstone Elementary. My experience growing up in Douglas County informed my decision and desire to pursue a B.A. in Psychology and I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver in 2021. I am currently working on my M.A. in school counseling at Adams State University.

My work as a cultural liaison has brought me to be an advocate for the community. I’ve enjoyed working with the multilingual population and helping them navigate the school system.

I enjoy hiking, playing guitar and spending time with my family. My girlfriend - soon to be fiance - and I plan on getting married in the spring of 2024.
